Customer Service at My Handyman (Part 1)

Posted by tinagleisner

People ask what’s different about the services offered by My Handyman. I thought sharing one (1) in the office would help show what happens behind the scenes.

Morning Check-In insures each technician will arrive On Time! If we’re running late, we’ll call to let you know when we will arrive. A lot more gets discussed on these morning phone calls:

  • New Bulkhead Stairway

Scott checked in at 6:30am – sore muscles from lifting cinder block yesterday. He got to Kensington but couldn’t find the street, and we discovered he was in the wrong town (bug in Toolbox software). Finally called the customer who said “this happens all the time.” Jennifer asked if there was a nickel option for the storm door we’re measuring, confirmed yes based on recent door order.

  • Rick checked in shortly after Scott. I reminded him to stop by National Car Rental at Manchester Airport, so they could select the color for their new vinyl floors and called the airport to confirm the manager would be there. Rick reminded me he was early so he could complete several additional items added by the customer yesterday.
  • Recommended Vanity

Called Dana to ask him to pick up the Newburyport vanity at the office. Jennifer, Jennifer Myers Interiors, dropped it off yesterday, we took photos and emailed them to the client for approval … it was a go. I reviewed the parts list & pricing for the master shower hardware so I could complete the order, and discussed the ship schedule versus work schedule.

Time to focus on today’s work:

  • Order Harvey storm door for this morning’s Brentwood customer.
  • Order shower materials from Granite Group for Newburyport.
  • Schedule emergency job in Rochester, NH … for this afternoon.
  • Send thank you with apology to yesterday’s customer in Londonderry as we’re supposed to get all materials in one (1) shopping trip. Committed an insurance estimate for Dorothy, for water damage to around three (3) exterior doors.
  • Locate and schedule debris pickup and gravel delivery to wrap up Scott’s bulkhead stairs.
  • Schedule refinishing of hardwood floors in Newburyport.
  • … plus I’m covering the phones today!
